…”Storm leaves 40,000 homes, businesses without power across Lower Mainland”…”Flash crash” decimates sterling”…
Hopes for a 1st rate first October Friday for some folks around our region start this morning with a cry for ‘power to the people’ as wind & rain knocked out hydro service to many. Potential for flooding continues and all residents are reminded to keep nearby storm drains free of fallen leaves and debris.
A 10% drop in the British pound yesterday left it at a 31-year low temporarily, with a slight recovery later in the day that had it experiencing its worst week since January 2009.
Despite its precariousness, UK tourism to Canada and the Lower Mainland continues to seem alive and well!
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet;
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear or see,
Thanks be! -adapt. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Cheers to a fine Friday & a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend!
