Not exactly well known, I think, but in 2007 the United Nations general assembly voted to establish today October 2nd as an International Day of Non-Violence.
Education and awareness, as is often the case about such things, being the primary objective.
Living peacefully among nations, within nations, in communities, and even within homes and families can all too often seem so complicated.
“LIVE SIMPLY, so that others may simply live”….
Make me an instrument of peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
For in reawakening:
peace, joy, comfort, strength & hope,
