December! …of the jolly & the jive-jivey…

Evergreens & holly have for generations now been part of the Christmas Season.

With yesterday, the first Sunday of Advent, a curious Christmas carol came to mind that can give us some thought to the jolly of the Season & the dance for us all–not only through this often stressful time for many, but through life itself!

Listen for yourself & see if you might hear it in a new way for our contemporary world—

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown.

The holly bears a blossom
As white as lily flower
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
To be our sweet Saviour.

The holly bears a berry
As red as any blood,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
To do poor sinners good.

The holly bears a prickle
As sharp as any thorn,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
On Christmas Day in the morn.

The holly bears a bark
As bitter as any gall,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ
For to redeem us all.

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
The holly bears the crown.

Whatever your traditions & wherever you may find yourself on life’s journey—

May the month of December bring new joys!…

& may peace, hope & love shine within you & on others on your path, in ways anew too!

Marvellous December Monday!
