…step up…

stepup

“Side by side & step by step our forefathers/mothers were marching along,
They were building a road to the future,
With a spade & a smile & a song!”

So goes the old elementary school song that sings of our land that we live in today’s growth as a nation.

Perhaps you learned it & remember it—….”They all call it Canada, but I call it home!”

What is this stepping out and stepping up that we are ALL called to do?

In our world that can sometimes now be negatively cast as a “ME ME ME generation”, indeed there is much that we need to recognize that it IS about US.

Not in a singularly or selfish way but collectively as community where each one of us can do our part for the benefit of all and in so doing, for the betterment of ourselves too.

I think it was Ghandi that once said something like “be the change, you want to see.”

Raindrops keep falling on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin’ seems to fit
Those raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling

So I just did me some talkin’ to the sun
And I said I didn’t like the way he’ got things done
Sleepin’ on the job
Those raindrops are falling on my, head they keep falling

But there’s one thing i know
The blues he sends to meet me won’t defeat me
It won’t be long ’till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep falling on my head
But that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turnin’ red
Crying’s not for me
‘Cause I’m never gonna stop the rain by complainin’
Because I’m free
Nothing’s worrying me.

Cheers to a fine Thursday that sees you thriving! Step out, step up, stand tall!!
