Nix the thoughts of liquid paper…no no, today in Vancouver the ‘tide’ is turning things extremely bright with a coincidental two-fold white extravaganza!!!
The third annual picnic, Diner en Blanc, where “throngs of people, dressed completely, elegantly, blindingly, in white are led to a secret location. Thousands of guests carry their own table (of a specific size), folding chairs, dinnerware and decor — all white, adding up to a heavenly apparition.”
They say “some might wonder about the big-picture point of such an elaborate dinner party. The point’s been the same from the very first dinner in the Bois de Boulogne — it’s a super elegant meal with good friends in an iconic city setting.”
Alrighty then…..apparently Vancouver will see some 3,500 participants, up from the first 1,200 at Jack Poole Plaza and last year’s 2,600 at Science World. Just where might it be this year, one can only guess! By all reports Vancouver Opera will be participating–would that be sing for your supper??!!….
Talk about coincidental unusual pairings and today in Vancouver will also see the grand opening of the White Spot chain of restaurants flagship 66th and largest full-restaurant at Dunsmuir & Homer Streets in a 100 year old heritage building. 8,200 square feet of dining space on two levels should have patrons smiling “O O O” for years to come!….
Summer picnics!—white wine!—pirate packs!—Vancouver traditions!—legendary!
A few white tales:
The color white projects purity, cleanliness, and neutrality. Doctors don white coats, brides traditionally wear white gowns, and a white picket fence surrounds a safe and happy home.
How the Colour White Affects Us Physically:
•Aids mental clarity
•Encourages us to clear clutter or obstacles
•Evokes purification of thoughts or actions
•Enables fresh beginnings
•According to Pantone Inc., white is the best selling color for the classic american t-shirt.
•More shades of white are available commercially than any other color.
•White clothing typically becomes translucent when wet.
•The appearance of white in a dream is thought to represent happiness at home. White castles are a symbol of achievement, destiny perfectly fulfilled, and spiritual perfection.
•Originally, scientists wore beige coats. In the late 19th century, medical professionals chose white ones. The color white was chosen because of the idea of hope and expectations for healing and recovery that the physicians would bring.
“The first of all single colours is white … We shall set down white for the representative of light, without which no colour can be seen; yellow for the earth; green for water; blue for air; red for fire; and black for total darkness.” — Leonardo Da Vinci
