…of light & salut!…

olympcauldronThere’s an interesting tale of tourist aghast in today’s news regarding the legacy that’s the Vancouver 2010 Olympics Cauldron that finds its home in Coal Harbour’s Jack Poole Plaza at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Photo taking visitors are especially disappointed that the cauldron is not lit, especially right at the moment now, in honour of the Olympics and our athletes doing our country proud at SOCHI2014!

The cauldron, now managed by the Vancouver Convention Centre, apparently can be lit, “to celebrate major achievements and events” and has been in the past, for a plaza restaurant opening, Canada Day, and during the hockey Stanley Cup finals when Vancouver’s own Canucks were participating. The catch to such lightings—-a $6,400 fee to flip the switch! (It remains unknown, for what duration of time that gives illumination)

A permanent, ongoing illuminating sponsorship??….Fortis BC formerly builders of the cauldron as Terasen Gas, a natural??!!….

Cheers to more bright spots in our vivacious Vancouver!…

You don’t have to look very far to find lighthearted in our fair city!…

One can take a stroll over to English Bay and see the statuesque “Amaze-ing Laughter” sculptures, a gift to the city from Lululemon’s founder, a Vancouverite, or hop on a False Creek ferry for the short trek to Granville Island where sights, sounds, and foodstuff smells in abundance can delight among jesting buskers and street entertainment.

And a few lightheated quote thoughts for your Wednesday:

If you think your boss is stupid, remember you wouldn’t have a job without them!…

A good speech should be like a woman’s skirt, short enough to arouse interest but long enough to cover the essentials…

I always arrive at the office late, but make up for it by leaving early…

Did you ever walk into a room and forget why you walked in? I think that’s how dogs spend their lives…

Have you ever noticed that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?…

Sometimes I lie awake at night and ask “Where have I gone wrong?” Then a voice says to me, “This is going to take more than one night!” – Charlie Brown

Cheers to a Wednesday, hump day, wine Wednesday, mid-week sunrise to sunset that sings a bright salut!
