…right…

In the bleak mid-winter, frosty wind made moan, earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow on snow, in the bleak mid-winter, long ago!…

Vancouverites are waking up to wet snow in the downtown core this morning and no doubt more winter-like conditions outside the downtown core and at higher elevations on the North Shore.  “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas…..” will likely make the airwaves of the local radio stations. Craft beer sales of local Winter Ale could skyrocket…

I can’t say I ever knew it or realized it, but it seems a long standing tradition of decorating the lions statues with holiday wreaths around their necks, on Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge has been nixed for traffic safety reasons.  Apparently the Ministry of Transportation decided to stop the public from decorating the lions this holiday season, however since complaints and negative publicity ensued, the Ministry has now claimed its festive cheer is en route!….”We understand we’re a bit late with holiday decorations this year, but we hope to have them up shortly.”

Cheers to better late than never!!…….that’s the spirit!….

According to a German rsearch project Vancouver boasts the #1 library in the world, sharing the honour with Montreal while Chicago, San Francisco, Shanghai, and Toronto are close behind.  Kudos to “fine architecture, the ability to return borrowed materials in a wide number of locations, and large digital collections and use of social media.”

Remember, as the anthropologists discovered years ago,—Why does Mummy so often frequent the library?? ….She loves to get wrapped up in a good book!….

Another tidbit that’s interesting to note—according to researchers, the propensity for Canadians to finish many sentences with “eh” (how typically Canadian, eh?!) is on the way out!  Passe one might say eh!   Conclusively & decidedly, apparently the avant-garde, modern, up-to-date phraseology finale is now “Right”……

Right eh?….”Right!”….

‘Tis the Friday before Christmas! The run up merriment weekend before the big family & friends day! Safe travels & cheers to a Friday & weekend of festive spirits bright!…

Right.
