“BC park a finalist for National Geographic Travel Award”…”Ten of the Best Clocks in Pictures”…

A noteworthy headline tells of a national park at the edge of the Haida Gwaii archipelago is in the running for a National Geographic travel award.

Gwaii Haanas is up for a World Legacy award in a category called Sense of Place.

Anyone who’s been there will agree with the park’s superintendent who says “temperate rainforests, abundant sea life and cultural treasures such as totem poles offer a glimpse of the Haida way of life and make the park unique.”

According to organizers, the awards seek to “recognize protection of historical monuments, archaeological sites, cultural events, indigenous heritage and artistic traditions.”

Cheers to “Sense of Place”….time & space…

Realize that we as human beings have been put on this earth for only a short time and that we must use this time to gain wisdom, knowledge, respect and the understanding for all human beings since we are all relatives.

Whatever’s on your plate for a fine final October 2014 Thursday, wherever you are, may you have a keen sense of place, take your time, and give yourself some space!

A story in today’s news speaks of an interesting job posting on the royal website. Yes, the house of Windsor is seeking a winder for the Queen’s collection of more than 1,000 timepieces—some of the finest clocks in the world…

“Applications for the job close on Oct. 13 – the successful candidate may have just a few days to prepare for one of the two busiest weekends of the year. The clocks go back on Oct. 27, and it takes 50 hours for the royal horological team to make the necessary adjustments to the whole collection.”

Wifi enabled vehicles are coming to Canada apparently. “Auto makers, telecommunications giants, software companies and app developers see huge potential in the connected car as drivers demand vehicles with the same technology and services they have at home.”…..

…not so sure what to think about that one!….wifi …..why why?….

A group of psychologists in the UK claim that “adulthood starts at 25 now, not 18 and ask what’s the hurry to grow up?”……

“Others aren’t so quick to dismiss the trend as a new psychological reality, citing instead what they see as a social life regression, and a set of lower expectations from parents and children alike.”

….hmmmm…indeed the times they are a-changing……

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”
